I want to install a shower mixer in my existing shower, where all the pipework is behind the tiles. I don’t want to remove the existing tiles, so need to find out if there is a method to install the mixer and pipework on the outside of the tiles. Hendrie Spies, by email
Patrick Gordon, national training manager at Cobra Water tech, replies: I assume that you have two undertile stopcocks connected to form a mixer as per normal screw-down tap configurations. If you want to install a mixer, I gather that you need a single lever unit to replace the two screw-down taps that you currently have. Unfortunately there is no off-the-shelf way to do this. If you can get a plumbing specialist like Adap Atap to make up something for you, the whole mixer and riser pipe to the shower rose will have to be surface mounted and that may not be an aesthetic solution to your problem. Adap Atap can be contacted at 011-660-7613, or contact Patrick on 011-951-5000.
